New District 73 Kindergarten Space Planned

Officials plan to build a two-story addition to the Sullivan Center to be used as a space for kindergarten students.

VERNON HILLS, IL - Bids are expected to go out on the new Hawthorn Kindergarten Center in the spring of 2018, with a possible groundbreaking planned for the summer, according to an item in The Village Voice - New from the village of Vernon Hills. The center is proposed to be a two-story addition that will connect to the Park District Sullivan Center on Aspen Drive.

The space will feature anywhere from 18 to 22 classroom/maker spaces and a large multi-purpose and playground area. Officials plan to have it open to all kindergarteners throughout the district with the exception of dual language students by the fall of 2019.

Traffic concerns are being discussed throughout the planning process, according to officials.
