Pier 1 Vernon Hills Slated For Closure Amid Company Bankruptcy
Citing coronavirus and the "uncertainty of a post-COVID world," Pier 1 Imports plans to halt retail operations.

VERNON HILLS, IL — Having already closed more than 400 stores in February, Pier 1 Imports announced Tuesday that it plans to end retail operations at its remaining locations; That would include the one in the Rivertree Court strip mall in Vernon Hills, which currently listed on the Pier 1 website as temporarily closed.
In a news release, the company described the decision to end its retail operations as an "orderly wind-down of business" that, at least for now, won't interfere with orders already placed on its website.
"This decision follows months of working to identify a buyer who would continue to operate our business going forward," the news release continued. "Unfortunately, the challenging retail environment has been significantly compounded by the profound impact of COVID-19, hindering our ability to secure such a buyer and requiring us to wind down."
