Police Locate Van Stolen By Diamond Thieves: Police
But the Vernon Hills Police Department is still looking for the three men accused of stealing diamonds from a Jared jewelry store.

VERNON HILLS, IL – Authorities are continuing to search for a group of brazen robbers who smashed a glass jewelry case at a Jared store in Vernon Hills earlier this month and fled with a stash of diamonds. The three men, who were all wearing black, entered the store at 567 Townline Road just before closing at 9 p.m. on Jan. 4. They used hammers to smash the cases and fled with the jewels, CBS Chicago reports.
No one was injured in the robbery, according to CBS Chicago.
While authorities have not tracked down the thieves, or the diamonds, they do believe they have their getaway vehicle. Authorities believe the group stole a light blue Dodge Carvan from a retail parking lot in the 300 block of north Milwaukee Avenue earlier in the evening on Jan. 4, Kim Christenson, spokesperson for the Vernon Hills Police Department, told Patch.

That same vehicle was found with its engine running in a driveway in the 500 block of Superior Street in Vernon Hills at about 11:55 p.m. on Jan. 4, Christenson said.
The van was unoccupied but contained "Jared store-related items," Christenson said. The vehicle was brought to the police department but no diamonds were recovered from the vehicle.
