Vernon Hills Man Killed In Crash
A Vernon Hills man died in the two-vehicle collision near Richmond.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – A 77-year-old Vernon Hills man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in unincorporated Richmond Wednesday morning. A 32-year-old Woodstock man was also injured in the collision that occurred at the intersection of Tyron Grove Road and Keystone Road at 7 a.m., according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office. A preliminary investigation shows a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban driven by the 32-year-old was eastbound on Tryon Grove Road west of Keystone Road and did not have a stop sign.
A 2007 Toyota Prius, driven by the Vernon Hills man, was traveling north on Keystone Road approaching Tryon Grove Road where there is a stop sign. The Prius stopped but then for unknown reasons pulled out in front of the Suburban, causing the collision, authorities said.
The driver of the Prius was pronounced dead on scene. The Prius driver has been identified as Eduard Modilevsky, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

An autopsy performed Wednesday revealed Modilevsky died from blunt force trauma to the chest, police said.
The driver of the Suburban was transported by ambulance to Centegra Medical Center in McHenry with minor injuries.Airbags deployed in the Prius, but not in the Suburban. The drivers of both vehicles were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Major Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
