Vernon Hills Park District partnered with Kids Around the World, an organization that partners with playground manufacturers, playground installers, Parks & Recreation Directors, and school districts to locate quality playgrounds that are set to be removed and replaced.  The harvested playgrounds are refurbished at their warehouses and made ready for years and years of future play for a fraction of the cost of new playgrounds. They establish playgrounds in poverty-stricken communities, restoring the opportunity for kids to enjoy the kind of play that is key to their physical, emotional, spiritual and cognitive development. Kids Around the World ships discarded playgrounds to underdeveloped nations that lack children’s play spaces and eliminate the equipment from a landfill.

The former District playground that was located in Donnelley Park is now a play structure in Lebanon.
