Vernon Hills Woman Dies After Boat Capsizes in Lake Michigan
Two other passengers on board the boat were injured and listed in good condition at a Chicago hospital, authorities said.
CHICAGO, IL — A 27-year-old Vernon Hills woman has died after a boat capsized in Lake Michigan Thursday morning, authorities said. The woman, Jessica Ceja, was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago after the powerboat she was on hit a jetty south of the Fullerton Avenue Beach area on the North Side of Chicago, the Daily Herald reports. Illinois Department of Natural Resources spokesman Tim Schweizer told the newspaper two other passengers on the boat, Christina Bucio, 30, of Vernon Hills, and Pedro Alberto Ocote-Matus, 28, of Waukegan, were listed in good condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
