As an organization, the Village of Vernon Hills is committed to identifying and removing barriers and providing equitable opportunities for all people. As part of those efforts, the Village worked with consultant Dr. Bryan Watkins to to study our efforts toward creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment. Note that while specific data outlined the Diversity & Inclusion Report relates to demographics of race, that is largely because that is the data available for analysis. Further, the benchmark data was taken from the 2010 Census, as the 2020 Census data has not yet been release.

While the study discusses race, it is the intent of the Village of Vernon Hills to create an equitable opportunities and a welcoming environment for all individuals. This work is just beginning, and it is hoped that these efforts undertaken within the structure of the Village organization will support similar discussions and initiatives throughout the community.
