1-Year-Old Girl Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash

The driver of a black Chrysler struck multiple other parked cars before getting out of their car and running away, police said.

CHICAGO — A 1-year-old girl is dead after a hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning, Chicago police said.

The driver of a black Chrysler 300 was headed north on Western Avenue at about 12:02 a.m. when they rear-ended a black Toyota sedan that was parked near the 300 block of South Western Avenue.

A child in the Toyota was taken to Stroger Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:58 a.m. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later identified her as Jamyah Harris.

The Chrysler continued to drive northbound and struck several other parked cars before the driver got out of the car and ran off, police said.

Two other women inside the Toyota, 18 and 23 years old, denied medical treatment. Police didn't immediately respond to questions about the Chrysler's speed, description of the driver or if any other injuries were reported.
