Barack Obama Helps Out Volunteers At Chicago Food Bank

The former president surprised volunteers at the Greater Chicago Food Depository earlier this week.

CHICAGO — Former President Barack Obama paid a visit to a local food bank on Chicago's Northwest Side this week ahead of Thanksgiving. Wearing a White Sox hat and latex gloves, he assisted 60 volunteers with food packing at the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

“You guys are doing such a great job helping out,” Obama told two young volunteers, who asked him for a hug. “I’m really proud of you.”

Obama Foundation staff accompanied him, and brought food to donate.
