Chicago Decides Not To Sue Estate Of Teen Killed By Cop
Chicago lawyers have backtracked on their plans to sue the estate of a teen killed by a police officer.

CHICAGO, IL — City of Chicago attorneys have decided to call off a planned emergency hearing. The lawyers sought a judge's approval of a lawsuit against the estate of a teen shot and killed by a police officer. The lawyers filed the motion Thursday, and announced their reversal Friday.
Quintonio LeGrier, 19, was shot to death in 2015. Officer Robert Rialmo was called to a home in West Garfield Park, when LeGrier walked outside of the home swinging a baseball bat, police said. The teen suffered from mental illness.
The officer killed LeGrier and his 55-year-old neighbor, Bettie Jones. The proposed lawsuit claimed the teen was responsible for Jones' death.

The announcement of the lawsuit sparked anger over social media when the Chicago Tribune first reported the story Thursday evening.
In a statement, the city said it reevaluated its legal strategy, and determined the lawsuit was "not the best course of action."
