'Death Wish' Remake Films in Pilsen This Week
Filming for the movie, which stars Bruce Willis, will create no-parking tow zones throughout the neighborhood.

CHICAGO, IL — The remake of the classic 1970s revenge movie Death Wish will be filming in the Pilsen neighborhood this week.
Filming for the movie, directed by Eli Roth and starring Bruce Willis, begins Wednesday, Sept. 28, and will run through Friday, Sept. 30, according to a production notice posted on the Tumblr site, Public Collectors. Businesses in the neighborhood will be able to stay open during their normal hours, but the following locations will be designated no-parking tow zones between 5 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Friday:
- 18th Street from May to Carpenter streets
- 18th Street from Throop to Carpenter streets
- 18th Street from South Laflin to South Loomis streets
- May Street from 18th to 19th streets
- Throop Street from 16th to 18th streets
- South Laflin Street from 17th to 18th streets
- an alley from 18th Street to 18th Place
The production chose the city in order to "capture to the unique Chicago look and remarkable architecture on film," the notice stated.

The original 1974 movie, set in New York City, became the signature role for Charles Bronson, who played an architecture turned trigger-happy vigilante after his daughter is raped and his wife is murdered.
