Holiday Parade, Tree Lighting To Be Held On West Side

Aldermen, the Chicago Children's Choir and community organizations are coming out to celebrate holiday cheer in the Austin neighborhood.

CHICAGO — A parade and tree lighting ceremony will be held on Chicago's West Side on Friday, December 7. Hosted by the 15th District Community Policing Office, the parade will be held along Madison Street to spread holiday cheer and promote unity.

Santa will report for duty on a sleigh, accompanied by CPD’s Mounted Unit.

The tree lighting ceremony will be held in front of the district station right after the parade.

Gift stockings will be passed out to all kids in attendance, and hot chocolate and chili will be served.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. at 4800 W Madison (Cicero/Madison), and travel west on Madison from Cicero Ave to the police station at 5701 W Madison.

Students from local schools, community organizations and the Chicago Children's Choir will be in attendance.

The Austin Chamber of Commerce, the Cook County Assistant States’ Attorney’s Office, Alderman Emma Mitts, Alderman Chris Taliaferro and Alderman Jason Ervin are also planning to attend the parade and ceremony.
