'Zero Gravity' Tribute Pop Up Changes Name After Lawsuit Threat

Beauty Bar has dropped the name of its nostalgic 90s theme party.

CHICAGO, IL -- Beauty Bar in West Town was excited to pay tribute to Naperville's Zero Gravity, a now-closed teen club notorious for its 90s nostalgia. But Zero Gravity's owners weren't too happy with the homage, and posted a Facebook message that said they're "taking proper actions against this illegal misleading act." The post has since been deleted, but Beauty Bar has now renamed its pop-up "Beauty Bar as 90s suburban club."

"For 3 Nights only come Dance like it's the 90s in the 'burbs all over again!" the West Town bar at 1444 W. Chicago Ave. posted on its Facebook page.

Launched in 1995, Zero Gravity has been called the "suburban teen dance club nobody wants to remember" and for many, conjures up hilarious nostalgic flashbacks of bleach-tipped hair, glow sticks, "Rachel" haircuts, and plenty of cologne floating around to mask teen angst.

The Naperville club was a no-booze party zone for 16 to 24 year olds. The venue closed last year after a 21-year run.

Beauty Bar nonetheless will pay tribute to the 90s, at least, with yes--glow sticks--and now that the 90s kids from the 'burbs are all grown up, booze will be served. The bar also promises 90s music classics, with "Bump n Grindcore - Rock Jams Edition" on Friday night, "Another '90s Halloween Party" on Saturday and "Emo vs. Pop Punk" on Sunday.
