Peacebook Festival Schedule For Austin, Hermosa, Englewood

The festival will offer free community meals, a peace panel and many performances.

CHICAGO, IL — Presented as part of the Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks series, the Peacebook Festival will feature 24 free peace-focused theater, dance and music performances. Each night will feature a different musical guest, and a free community meal will be held before every Saturday show with peace fair panels, workshops and community organizations from a diverse array of Chicago peacemakers.

The Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks series brings more than 2,000 events to the city's 77 neighborhood parks throughout the year. Projects vary from traditional performances and concerts, to movies, peace rallies, community workshops, nature-based programs, dance pieces and festivals. The district has partnered with more than arts and community organizations to expand and produce the initiative.

The Peacebook Festival performances will be divided into three programs of eight works that will tour South, West and North Side neighborhoods in September:

Austin:
La Follette Park, 1333 N. Laramie Ave.
Friday, Sept. 7 at 6 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. (free community meal at 11:30 p.m., Peace Panel at 12 p.m.)

Hermosa:
Kelvyn Park, 4438 W. Wrightwood Ave.
Friday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. (free community meal at 11:30 p.m., Peace Panel at
12 p.m.)
