Riot Fest to Spend $12K to Clean Up Douglas Park
This year's cost is less than the 2015 bill to fix up the West Side park.

CHICAGO, IL — Cleanup to Douglas Park after September's Riot Fest will only cost organizers about $12,000, an amount that's considerably less than last year's cost, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Although organizers didn't give an exact amount for the 2015 cleanup of the West Side park, they did say the overall cost for putting on the the three-day music festival was around $180,000, the report stated. At the time, Alderman George Cardenas (12th Ward), who represents the district where the park is located, said costs to fix the damage done by last year's event would run about $100,000. Parts of the park grounds were ripped up by festival-goers because of muddy conditions caused by rainy weather.
This year, Riot Fest organizers will need to take care of the following maintenance on the park, according to the Tribune:

- aerating the 24 acres of the park used by the festival
- replacing a tree that was cut down
Weather permitting, Chicago Park District officials believe all the work should be finished by the end of the week, the report stated.
Cleanup costs for Riot Fest fall in between the amounts for similar venue cleanup efforts for other Chicago music festivals this year, the Tribune reports. Organizers for the three-day Pitchfork Music Festival spent $4,700 to fix up Union Park, and it cost Lollapalooza $453,000 to repair Grant Park after July's four-day event.
