West Side Residents Warned Of Treasurer's Tax Sale

The Cook County Treasurer said some 2nd Ward residents could have their taxes sold in May.

CHICAGO, IL — A number of 2nd Ward residents are at risk of having their taxes sold at the next Annual Tax Sale May 4, according to Ald. Brian Hopkins. He said some people are considered “most vulnerable” based on prior tax sale history and may not even be aware of their delinquency.

The alderman said the residents may not have not updated their mailing address with the Treasurer’s office, and as a result, the U.S. Postal Service returned their tax bill as “undeliverable.”

If a recent change of address is the cause for missed correspondence from the Treasurer’s office, you can submit the Name or Address Change Form, which will ensure the office has up-to-date addresses for future mailings. The form should be completed, notarized and emailed back to the 2nd Ward office.
