Woman Dies In Pilsen Fire

The woman was found badly burned inside a West Side home, authorities said.

CHICAGO — A 48-year-old woman has died after a fire in a Pilsen home Monday, officials said. Fire crews were called to the two-story home in the 1800 block of South Peoria at about 2 a.m., and were able to extinguish the fire by 2:20.

Firefighters found the woman badly burned inside the home, and she was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police and the Chicago Fire Department said. She was later pronounced dead.

A firefighter suffered a minor injury in the fire, authorities said.
