Chicago suburbs with a large senior citizen propulation or high median incomes tend to have the highest percentages of mortgage-free homes, according toCrain's Chicago Business.
According to a Crain's analysis, 13,936 Wheaton homeowners, or 27 percent, are mortgage-free. Crain's reports nearly 26 percent of all homeowners in the Chicago area are mortgage-free.
