Providence Bank to Fill Roosevelt Road Vacancy
Providence Bank will move from its leased office on Naperville Road to the vacant bank building at the corner of Roosevelt Road and President Street this summer.

Providence Bank in Wheaton is planning a move to the vacant building formerly occupied by Amcore Bank at the corner of Roosevelt Road and President Street—an intersection that will have much more visibility than the bank's current location at 330 S. Naperville Rd.
Providence Bank CFO David DeGroot said in an email Wednesday the bank bought the property in late 2012 and plans to move in June 15.
The new location is at an intersection that has a "much higher traffic count" than the bank's current location at 330 S. Naperville Rd., he said. He added that the new facility is more convenient with wider drive-thru lanes, a drive-up ATM and self storage boxes.

"We have redecorated the interior and have upgraded the bank equipment. We also plan to expand the parking lot and driveway access to President Street prior to our move in June, 2013," DeGroot said.
Wheaton City Council on Monday approved the bank's request to add parking spaces next to the building.

The city approved a planned unit development (PUD) for the property in 2006, allowing for construction of a 4,100-square-foot bank with a drive-thru service lane at 1051 E. Roosevelt Rd. that Amcore Bank would occupy and a 3,380-square-foot retail building at 1071 E. Roosevelt Rd. that Athletico would occupy.
Council members said they look forward to Providence Bank moving to the vacant space.
"This is just wonderful—for that eyesore to be taken care of, said Councilman Evelyn Pacino-Sanguinetti.
"I go by this everyday and to be honest, I'd rather see a parking lot (landscaped) than what's there now," said Councilman Tom Mouhelis.
