Macdonald founded the Chicago Golf Club, which is the oldest 18-hole golf course in the U.S., and named his estate after his grandfather’s Ballyshear manor and estate, which was located in Scotland, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Ballyshear has had seven different owners in the past 110 years, including its most recent owners, Matt and Jessica Krauser who bought the mansion in 1997 and worked to “restore the home with modern amenities to reflect its timeless grandeur,” listing agent Mark Plunkett of Coldwell Banker told the Chicago Tribune.
