Transit-Oriented Development Breaks Ground in Wilmette
The Residences at Wilmette are taking shape at Green Bay Road and Wilmette Avenue.

WILMETTE, IL - Transit-oriented development, the golden phrase associated with Wilmette's neighbor to the south, has reached the village.
Ground broke recently on The Residences at Wilmette, a five-story 75-unit residential development and retail center operated by M&R Development and Globe Corporation, at 611 Green Bay Road.
The development, which is within walking distance of the Wilmette Metra station, will take shape at the northwest corner of Green Bay Road and Wilmette Avenue.

"There’s definitely a pent-up demand for new luxury rentals in downtown Wilmette," said Anthony Rossi Sr., president of M&R Development. "In fact, this building will mark the first new-construction rental community in the immediate area in many years. The development’s location next to public transportation, along with its mix of high-end residential and commercial uses, will make it an ideal place to live for long-time Wilmette residents looking to make a change to a maintenance-free lifestyle, yet still remain in the area.”

More than 6,000 square feet of retail space will be open on the ground level, according to a news release on the ground breaking.

Common amenities include a fitness room, fire pit and a club room for private gatherings.
The project is scheduled for completion in August 2017.
