5 Years After Listing, Winnetka Home Sale Becomes Town's Priciest
WOW House: This lakefront Sheridan Road estate was sold last month for $6.2 million.
WINNETKA, IL — A 14,600-square-foot Winnetka mansion has sold after almost five years on the market. At nearly $6.2 million, the sale of the 1.77-acre Sheridan Road property became the most expensive single family home sold in town in more than a year.
The lakeside, Mediterranean-style estate includes a private beach, an exterior pool, hot tub, an elevator, a tennis court and a 5-10 car garage. It's got eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms.

The property was sold by Robert Glickman, ex-CEO of the failed Corus Bank, the largest area bank to fold after the 2008 financial crisis. He bought the house in 1997 from from philanthropist Ann Lurie for $5.5 million, Crain's Chicago Business reported.

Glickman began renting out the property when he was unable to find a buyer for its 2012 list price of $9.75 million, according to Crain's. The home was listed again in 2014 for $8.75 million, and most recently, its asking price had dropped to $6.5 million.
According to the Cook County Assessor, the estimated market value of the property declined by more than $2.5 million between 2016 and 2017, falling from $9.725 million to just over $7.15 million.

Sold on Sept. 5, the home is the priciest sale in Winnetka since August 2016. Its buyers have not yet been identified in public records.
