Bears Sackmaster Khalil Mack Ready To Drop His Glencoe Mansion
After buying a Gold Coast condo this year, the Bears linebacker listed the house Thursday for $1.25 million above what he paid in 2018.
GLENCOE, IL — Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack listed his Glencoe mansion for $5 million this week after purchasing a half-floor of one of Chicago's most elite condominium buildings earlier this year.
Mack, 30, paid $3.75 million for the Forest Avenue home in September 2018, shortly after agreeing to a six-year contract with the Bears that guaranteed him $90 million.
The six-bedroom house had been completed earlier that year after local luxury homebuilders demolished a 1915-built home on the site designed by Robert Seyfarth, a prominent Highland Park architect.

The new home, first listed for $4.175 million, includes 6,100 square feet of aboveground living space and a 3,200-square-foot finished lower level with a sport court, exercise room, entertainment space, media room, wine cellar and yoga studio, according to the listing.

The house has a custom-built walnut library, a waterfall edge island and top-of-the-line appliances in its kitchen, and an enclosed screen porch with a fireplace and hot tub overlooking its back yard.

In March, through a trust managed by his father, Mack spent $6.85 million to buy half of one of the upper floors of 9 W. Walton St. in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood.

At the time, it was the highest price anyone had paid for a downtown condo in nine months, according to Crain's Chicago Business, which first reported the purchase.
Other notable purchasers of luxury condos in the ritzy 35-story building include Patrick Kane of the Chicago Blackhawks, Ferrara Candy CEO Todd Siwak, and the state's richest man, hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin of Citadel, according to past reports.

Michael LaFido, one of the agents listing the Glencoe home, told the Chicago Tribune that the $3.75 million Mack paid in 2017 had been a "steal," and its $5 million price tag was not too much to ask considering current demand for high-end suburban real estate.
“The market then was totally different," LaFido said. "He’s also made improvements, cosmetically and other enhancements, and also in terms of security and privacy. We feel like based on the market and where things are, we’re priced aggressively.”
