Early Plans For 7-Story Building in Winnetka

"Landmark style" building planned by local developer at Fell Property.

The vice president of Winnetka’s 711 Oak Street condominiums homeowners group has said the developer of the Fell Property at Lincoln Avenue and Elm Street has come to his group to review plans for development at that site - plans that include a seven-story building.

The Winnetka Talk reports Frank Petrek was one of many residents to share concerns on “the potential size of the project at a recent village council meeting, one in which officials introduced a proposed revision to a local zoning ordinance regarding the height and density of commercial buildings.”

A proposed change to the village’s zoning laws, however, would increase the number of stories a building could have from two and a half to just four.

David Trandel, a Winnetka resident and CEO of Stonestreet Partners, is the developer of the property. He said the building will be “landmark style” and be designed by world-renowned architect Lucien Lagrange.

Village officials have indicated no talks have begun with the developer.
