According to property records and Crain's Chicago Business, the current sellers are retired General Motors executive Lou Hughes, who now runs a cybersecurity firm in Washington D.C., and Candice Hughes, who teaches at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Lou Hughes told Crain's the asking price of $5.4 million is less than the combined cost of the renovations they've undertaken and the $3 million they paid for the house.

The estimated 2016 market value of the property is just over $4.2 million, according to office of the Cook County Assessor. The local school districts include Harper Elementary, Highcrest Middle School, Wilmette Junior High and New Trier Township High School.
