Former Home of Quaker Oats Founder Listed in Winnetka
Vintage features remain intact at home that's more than a century old.

The Winnetka home that was the summer residence of Quaker Oats founder Henry P. Cowell was just listed this week for about $2.9 million, Crain’s Chicago reports.
Originally on a much larger lot, the 8,600-square-foot home was built in 1896 and bought by Cowell the same year. It was listed under his ownership until his death in 1944.
Now, many of the vintage features remain intact. With seven bedrooms and seven original fireplaces, it has ornate plaster ceilings and wood paneling in several formal rooms. Its owner is Ross Wimer, an architect who designed the Ledge at the Willis Tower among other projects worldwide.
