Former Rauner Co-Worker Sells Winnetka Mansion to 'Friend of a Friend' to Obama

President Barack Obama and Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner may be on complete opposite ends of the political spectrum, but they both have ties to a recently sold Winnetka mansion.

A 16-room home on Mt. Pleasant Street sold for $4.5 million last month to Harreld ‘Kip’ Kirkpatrick and his wife, according to Crain’s Chicago. Kirkpatrick founded the Vista Group with Martin Nesbitt, leader of the Barack Obama Foundation. In effect, a “friend of a friend” of Obama’s.

Making the sale was Janet and Joseph Nolan. Joseph, who now runs his own private-equity firm, spent two decades at GTCR, the same firm Rauner left two years before beginning his campaign for governor.
