Glencoe Mansion Sets Chicago Record with $19.5M Sale
The home, designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw, sold to an executive in Sam Zell's real estate investment trust, Crain's reports.

A 15,800-square foot, Howard Van Doren Shaw-designed lakefront Glencoe home has sold for $19.5 million, which records indicate is the most ever paid for a Chicago-area home, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.
David Helfand, co-president of Sam Zell’s Equity Group, a real estate investment trust, purchased the mansion in August, Crain’s report. The home, built in 1917, was extensively redesigned in the last decade when two-thirds of it were torn down, then rebuilt and expanded.
