'Home Alone' House Getting 'Massive Addition'
Famed Winnetka home under construction, rumors of tear-down unfounded.
WINNETKA, IL — The cinematic home of Kevin McCallister will remain preserved, at least from the front.
The red-brick Georgian at 671 Lincoln Ave., better known as "Home Alone House," has been surrounded by a fence since last November, leading to some rumors that it had been slated for demolition.
But according to the posted notice on the fence, the location for the iconic 1990 John Hughes production has actually been undergoing an "interior restoration and addition," with the facade to remain unchanged, because of "the home's unique history."
