Jennifer Pritzker Puts 1920's Winnetka Mansion Back On Market
After an offer for the billionaire real estate investor's "private treasure" fell through, it was relisted Thursday for $3.85 million.
WINNETKA, IL — A 98-year-old mansion overlooking the Indian Hill Club in Winnetka is back on the market after a contingent offer to buy the property fell through.
Billionaire real estate investor Jennifer Pritzker purchased the six-bedroom "true private oasis" for $2.77 million in 2015 and listed it for $3.85 million last April after carrying out a major rehab, affording to its listing and property records.
The 10,000-square-foot Colonial-style estate on a nearly 1.3-acre lot overlooking the fairway of the 6th hole of the golf club has been updated with two new master suites, baths and a chef's kitchen.

The home was taken off the market in June due to a pending purchase offer, but it was listed publicly again Thursday with an identical asking price.
There's an indoor solarium with a pool and spa connected by breezeway, a temperature-controlled wine room, a heated three-car garage and a four-story elevator.

An all-seasons room has a fireplace and panoramic views, and the home has a heated driveway and new back patio, according to its listing.

Pritzker, 69, is a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and, with a net worth of $1.9 billion, the world's first and only openly transgender billionaire, according to Forbes. Her father was the late Bob Pritzker and she is the cousin of Gov. JB Pritzker and one of 11 billionaires in the Pritzker family.
Pritzker's Tawani Enterprises is presently trying to unload at least five North Shore properties, with two properties in Evanston are currently under contract, Crain's Chicago Business reported. Last year, the firm announced it was exploring the sale of a pair of Evanston bed and breakfasts it owns.

A Tawani representative said the the firm is shifting its property management portfolio toward commercial and multi-family real estate. Its two Evanston bed and breakfasts will be listed in March, and the Indian Hill property is one of three other North Shore properties it is currently offering for sale. Its under-contract Evanston houses include a 1914 Tudor at 2437 N. Sheridan Road that had been listed for $1.6 million and a 1889 Victorian at 1629 Judson Ave. that had been asking for nearly $1.3 million.

According to the Cook County Assessor's Office, the estimated 2018 market value of the property is $2,072,250, down from $2,366,940 in 2017, when its annual property tax bill was nearly $48,000.
An open house at the Indian Hill Road property is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. on Feb. 24.
