One Winnetka Developer Could Alter 7-Story Plan
Developer David Trandell says feel is that "7 stories isn't going to happen" following feedback from commissioners and public.

Winnetka developer David Trandel will present something different to the village Plan Commission next month after hearing plenty of feedback on his ‘One Winnetka’ project from the public and commissioners themselves.
Following the feedback, he said the feel is “seven stories isn’t going to happen.”
‘One Winnetka,’ the planned 7-story mixed-use development to stand at Elm St. and Lincoln Ave., proposed to include 120 apartments, more than 45,000 square feet of retail space, underground parking and an outdoor plaza.

But commissioners shared a number of the concerns voiced by the public at two public forums, the Winnetka Talk reports.

“The building is just too big to fit within the comprehensive plan and what the comprehensive plan lays out,” said Commissioner Scott Myers, while adding his support of bringing more people downtown.
“I can’t see putting $6.5 million into this, plus the water main, streetscape and park (landscaping),” added Trustee Richard Kates.

Trandel said he plans to alter the proposal, but did not discuss details.
“We’re really looking to get feedback,” he said. “We’re not close-minded to trying to alter the configuration of the building. I think we feel seven stories isn’t going to happen. We need to talk about what can happen and the square footage that can happen sooner rather than later.”
An updated proposal will be presented at the next Plan Commission meeting on May 27.
