8 Car Burglaries, Mostly From Unlocked Vehicles, Reported in Woodridge Last Week: Police

The following reports were taken from the Woodridge Police Department throughout the past week.

Drugs

  • Sara Barranco, 18, was arrested Nov. 4 around 12:35 a.m. for possession of a controlled substance. She was cited after a routine traffic stop.

DUI

  • Raj Soni, 35, was charged with driving under the influence after he was stopped by police driving down Woodward Ave. on Nov. 4 around 1:41 a.m.

Burglaries

  • Sometime between 9 p.m. on Nov. 6 and 2 p.m. on Nov. 7, an unknown person entered an unlocked car on Woodlyn Dr. and stole loose change and a watch valued at $2,000.
  • A theft occurred at the Sam’s Club on Woodward Ave. Nov. 7 when someone picked up and stole a bag that had been dropped by another shopper. The bag contained more than $2,000 in cash and has not been returned to the store.
  • Steven Essenberg, 23, was charged with theft Nov. 7 when he reportedly stole prescription medication from a business on Spring St. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
  • Between 9:50 a.m. and 10:50 a.m. Nov. 8, someone reported a car break-in in which a criminal had broken a lock on the passenger’s side door to gain entry to the car and stole tools that were valued at $1,400.
  • A car burglary took place on the 7600 block of Bristol Ln. on Nov. 8 in which someone got into an unlocked car and stole an iPhone worth $100.
  • An incident in which someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a wallet containing the victim’s driver’s license and credit cards took place Nov. 9 on the 2500 block of Stonewall Ave.
  • Another car burglary took place Nov. 9 in which someone went into an unlocked vehicle and stole loose change and a Kindle.
  • Another car burglary Nov. 9 was mild: someone opened up an unlocked vehicle and stole loose change. The car was parked on Vincent Ct.
  • The last car burglary reported Nov. 9 occurred when someone got into an unlocked car and stole a cellphone case valued at $50.
