Around 50 Woodridge Residents Took Part in the Chicago Marathon

Sunday's event drew thousands.

CHICAGO, IL — Around 40 runners from Woodridge tied their laces to run the Bank of America Chicago Marathon Sunday. The 26.2-mile course took runners through 29 Chicago neighborhoods that went all the way north to Wrigley Field and south to US Cellular Field.

Jillian Blondell, 32, was the first Elmhurst resident to finish the race at a time of 3:11:06, according to unofficial Chicago Marathon results. She finished 1853rd overall, 209th in her gender and 67th in her 30-34 age division.

Close behind Blondell was Kelly Slayden, who finished in 3:29:34 and placed 83rd in her 20-24 age group.

  • Heather Zeigler, 36 (35-39 age division), 3:59:31
  • Michael Hubbard, 59 (55-59 age division), 4:05:46
  • Nicole Gaspar, 39 (35-39 age division), 4:06:49
  • Tammie Meisner, 48 (45-49 age division), 4:15:39
  • Denise Ridderhoff, 49 (45-49 age division), 4:16:47

Elite runners from Kenya dominated the race. Kenyan Abel Kirui finished first with a time of 2:11:22, beating out last year’s champion and fellow Kenyan Dickson Chum in the final mile. Florence Kiplagat, 29, was the top female finisher clocking in at 2:22:31. Results are still unofficial.
