Butterfly Fans Flock To Woodridge Library To See 100s Of Monarchs
More than 1,100 people attended the interactive event.

WOODRIDGE, IL — More than 1,100 people made their way to the Woodridge Public Library on Saturday to see hundreds of monarch butterflies on display. From babies to 90-year-old butterfly buffs, visitors were able to feed, photograph, and watch the butterflies flutter inside of a screened tent.
Guests were able to feed the butterflies using a cotton swab dipped in Gatorade and then attached to a straw. Butterflies taste with their feet (wow!), so some lucky butterfly wranglers had butterflies perching on their cotton swabs.

The interactive event illustrated the life cycle of a monarch butterfly and even had some live caterpillars hanging around. Kids were able to learn the tale of the Hungry Caterpillar by walking through an interactive story area.

The butterfly love was so palpable that visitors donned monarch wings and got into the act themselves.

Despite the fact that there were more than 1,100 people at the event, the butterflies were able to create a sense of calm and delight.
