'Demolition Ceremony' Planned For Former Westmont Shopping Center
Developers are hoping to build a multi-screen theater and several restaurants on the property.

WESTMONT, IL --- More than three years after the Westbrook Market closed for good and left a vacant building behind, city officials plan to raze the building to kick off it's next phase of development. The Westmont Village Centre property, located at 10 W. 63rd Ave., was recently acquired by Bradford Real Estate, Kensington Development Partners, and may be redeveloped into a multi-screen theater, a gym, and several restaurants.
In a statement, Westmont Economic Development Director Larry Forssberg called the Dec. 15 Demolition Ceremony "a symbolic moment" and said that South Westmont Business District partners and elected officials are welcome to come "grab a sledgehammer and participate."
Village officials expect the demolition to continue into spring 2019. They say nearby businesses that include Walgreens, Italiamo, and Burger King will not be affected.
