District 68 Board Approves Hybrid Model For Return To Classroom
The Board of Education voted during a special meeting Wednesday to move the district to a hybrid model with a remote option this month.
WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge School District 68 students have the option to return to the classroom on Oct. 22 after the Board of Education voted during a special meeting Wednesday to move the district to a hybrid model with a remote option. Superintendent Dr. Patrick J. Broncato sent a letter to families Thursday discussing the decision, and said there is "still much work to do" before students head back to the classroom on Oct. 22.
Parents with students in District 68 are being asked to commit to hybrid or remote learning by Thursday, and all details and options were emailed to families. Their decision will last through December, and the district needs to be notified of any requests to change for the second half of school by Dec. 1, according to the letter.
According to the letter, students who choose the hybrid option will attend school in-person two days a week (Monday/Thursday or Tuesday/Friday), with remote learning the other three days. If the district needs to return to full remote learning according to public health guidelines, the district "would most likely not revisit the issue" until the beginning of the second semester.
