Eagle Scout Adds Disposal Sites For Worn, Torn American Flags

According to Woodridge Vets, there are now four disposal containers for tattered and torn American flags throughout the village.

WOODRIDGE, IL — A local Eagle Scout recently added new flag disposal containers throughout Woodridge where community members are encouraged to properly dispose of their worn, torn or tattered American flag(s). According to Woodridge Vets, there are now four disposal containers throughout the village, including the three Jack Kulaga, a member of Eagle Scout Troop 512, placed around Woodridge as part of an Eagle Scout project. Woodridge Vets will collect and store all disposed flags, and will also properly retire them with help from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District.

Flag disposal containers are located at the following sites:

  • The lobby of the Woodridge Public Works/Police Department: 1 Plaza Drive, in the Town Center. Access hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • St. Scholastica Church: 7800 Janes Avenue. It is located in the corner of the main hallway, just before entering the Narthex. See access hours on the parish website.
  • United Methodist Church: 2700 75th Street. It is located in the large room just across the hall from the church/school office.>> See access hours
  • Darien-Woodridge Fire Station's main lobby: 7550 Lyman Avenue, Darien (just off 75th and Lyman). The access hours here are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
