Fourth Grader Recognized By Police for Making Live-Saving 911 Call
Marc Schmidt immediately called 911 when he heard his grandmother's cries.

Marc Schmidt is only in fourth grade, but he's already the owner of a Certificate of Recognition from the Woodridge Police Department, Woodridge School District 68 stated in a release.
Schmidt’s parents were out of town for the weekend and he was home alone with his grandmother when he her heard cries for help in the house. He immediately called 911 and answered all the dispatcher’s questions in a calm and collected way.
When emergency responders made it to his house, Schmidt assisted them in entering his home and finding his grandmother.

“For his ability to keep his composure in an emergency and for assisting the Police and Fire Departments in getting emergency medical assistance to his grandmother, Marc was awarded a Certificate of Recognition,” the school’s release states.
The Woodridge Police went to Murphy School Oct. 11 to recognize Schmidt’s bravery and present him with his Certificate.
