Friday The 13th Turns 40: Woodridge Theater To Host Screenings
Jason Voorhees returns to terrorize the campers of Camp Crystal Lake at select theaters in the Chicago area, including one in Woodridge.
WOODRIDGE, IL — One of the most popular horror movie franchises of all time is celebrating its 40th birthday. For four decades, Jason Voorhees (and sometimes his mom) have been terrorizing unsuspecting teenagers, and this year marks a milestone anniversary for the slasher movie. Select theaters in Illinois, including one in Woodridge, will be showing the original "Friday the 13th" on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Cinemark @ Seven Bridges & IMAX, 6500 Route 53, will be showing the horror flick.
The "Friday the 13th" franchise has spawned a total of 12 films — with rumors of a 13th movie in the works. The 1980 original will be shown restored and remastered on the big screen.
Viewers can watch the counselors of Camp Crystal Lake as they're menaced by the hockey-mask wearing killer at theaters in Joliet, Naperville, New Lenox, Woodridge, Warrenville, Chicago, Crystal Lake and other locations.
