Shelter Asks Woodridge Residents Help in Finding Missing Beagle Mix

The West Suburban Humane Society is asking residents of Woodridge for their help in finding 'Matty.'

For the past few weeks, volunteers of the West Suburban Humane Society have been searching the Woodrige area for an escaped beagle mix. Volunteers have combed the area, distributed more than 4,500 flyers, posted signs and set up feeding stations.

The dog escaped from foster care in Downers Grove, where she had been living for two weeks. Since then, shelter volunteers say unconfirmed sightings have been reported as far as 20 miles away, but consistent reports have come from the Woordridge area. The shelter is asking for the public's help in finding her.

A number of sightings were reported between 75th and Hobson and between I-355 and Route 53.

"Matty," as she was named after she was brought into the West Suburban Humane Society, is three years old and does not yet respond to her new name. She weighs about 25 to 30 pounds and has honey-colored fur, white paws and a white chest. She was wearing a red collar when first escaped, but may have lost it since.

Matty is very timid and shy. People are asked not to chase or call out her name, because she will run. Anyone who sees Matty is asked to call 630-364-8964 or the West Suburban Humane Society at 630-960-9600.
