Tornado Victim Support: School Converts To Resource Center

More than 20 local and national disaster relief agencies will be on hand at Thomas Jefferson Junior High in Woodridge June 26 and June 27.

WOODRIDGE, IL — More than 20 disaster relief agencies will be on hand to provide support for tornado victims at a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) planned for Saturday and Sunday in Woodridge.

An online tornado victim resource center is available for residents who are unable to make it in person.

The center will be open June 26 and June 27 at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School, 7200 Janes Ave., Woodridge. Residents who were impacted by Sunday's EF-3 tornado can attend to get help and resources from private, public, local and national disaster relief agencies.

Coronavirus vaccinations will also be available at the two-day event.

Tornado victims can get information about disaster services, mental health support and other resources from the following organizations (subject to change):

Representatives from Naperville will offer information about debris collection and building permits.

"With this one-stop relief shop in DuPage – along with its online counterpart for those who can’t travel – my administration is bringing all available state resources right to the people who need them most,” Governor JB Pritzker said in a news release.

Woodridge Tornado Damage: 400 Homes Hit, 29 Destroyed

Residents are asked to wear a face mask to the Multi-Agency Resource Center and to bring the following items:

  • Proof of address
  • A photo ID

DuPage County Health Department will offer the following resources at the MARC:

  • Information about tetanus vaccines
  • Food safety tips
  • Coronavirus vaccines for residents 12 and older

The Multi-Agency Resource Center is organized by The Northeast Illinois Community Organizations Active In Disaster (COAD), a partner of the American Red Cross.
