'Spooktober Spectacular' Halloween Fun: Woodridge Public Library
Enjoy virtual fun for all from the Woodridge Public Library including Monster Mash Dance Party, slime Contest, and Haunted Cooking Class.

WOODRIDGE, IL — The Woodridge Public Library has announced a long list of what it describes as fun and safe Halloween events scheduled, and they're all available from home. According to a news release sent to Patch from the library, contests can be entered online, participation in programs is open to the public through YouTube and Zoom webinars and curbside delivery is available for crafts. There is something for every age - Monster Mash Dance Party, slime Contest, Haunted Cooking Class and more, according to the news release.
The library is open with normal operating hours for people to pick up or drop off frightful books or movies. The library is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Curbside Pickup ends one hour before closing.
According to the news release, the annual pumpkin contest got a little twist, as it's a coloring contest this year. Entries will be displayed in an online pumpkin patch, the library added.

"Have safe, spooky and contactless fun during our Spooktober celebration! All-ages pumpkin coloring contest, virtual Monster Mash party, Haunted Legends night, DIY crafts and so much more is available online or through Curbside delivery," the library said in the news release.
You can find a small Halloween surprise in every Kid Book Bundle, the library added.

- Pumpkin Coloring Contest: Color a pumpkin, take a picture of your completed artwork and email to community@woodridgelibrary.org. Include name of artist, age group (Child or Teen/Adult), email and phone number. Use crayons, markers, paint, collage or any other media to decorate your pumpkin, which will be displayed online in a virtual pumpkin patch. Entries are due on Oct. 29. Randomly selected winners will receive a jack-o-lantern bucket stuffed with art supplies.

- Haunted & Healthy Virtual Cooking Class for Adult with Child, Pre-register now for the class scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday. Some ingredients and pre-planning required.
Children: Take & Make Crafts: DIY crafts for kids are available while supplies last at the entrance to the Children's Department, or call 630-487-2578.

- Slime Contest: Win a year* of slime supplies! Enter by Oct. 28. One entry per person. To enter, take a picture of some slime you've made and send a photo to the library at community@woodridgelibrary.org. Also, tell the library a little about how you made it and you'll be entered into a random drawing to win a lot of slime supplies - which just might last you a whole year. Include your name, grade and phone number.

Bullet Journaling 101: Available starting Thursday. Live demo at 7 p.m., Oct. 29. Registration required to obtain kit; attend virtual demonstration.
