Storyteller Shares African Tales, Poems At Woodridge Library

The event is a great way for kids to learn more about African history and culture.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge residents can immerse themselves in the rich art of African culture at a storytelling event at Woodridge Public Library. Storyteller and poet Shanta will share African-American folktales, chants, and poems at the Feb. 1 event.

Shanta will play traditional African instruments to perform songs and sing chants. The performance will also delve into "contemporary African-American perspectives," according to the library's event post.

No registration is required for this free, all-ages event, which kicks off in the Woodridge Public Library's Mahlke Meeting Room at 7 p.m.
