Tornadoes Confirmed in Naperville and Downers Grove
National Weather Service classifies Tuesday night's tornadoes as EF-0.

The western suburbs were hit with two weak tornadoes the night of Tuesday, Aug. 18, the National Weather Service has confirmed after surveying damage.
Classified as EF-0 tornadoes, the weakest on the scale, the twisters featured winds of 65 to 85 miles per hour.
The first touched down in southeast Naperville at 7:55 p.m. on Royce Road. The tornado tracked eastward to Woodridge. The second touched down at 8 p.m. in Downers Grove near Saratoga and Franklin streets.

“These two tornadoes were associated with the line of thunderstorms that moved through the area behind the supercell thunderstorm that nearly produced a tornado over northern Will County,” the NWS reported.
The total number of confirmed tornadoes in Tuesday’s event is up to four, including the two EF-0 tornadoes previously confirmed in Livingston County.
