ComED 'Hopeful" About Fixing Remaining Power Outages In Woodridge

As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, Woodridge had 22 outages​ affecting 546 customers, according to ComED and the village.

WOODRIDGE, IL — The Village of Woodridge said in an update Wednesday that ComEd is hopeful that crews will restore the majority of the remaining outages by Wednesday evening.

As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, Woodridge had 22 outages affecting 546 customers.

"ComED is aware of the remaining outages in Woodridge, and are in the process of scheduling resources," the village said, in a news release, and added that there remains a larger number of residential outages in the Scenicwood/Gatewood neighborhood, east of Route 53, and just north of 83rd Street, that ComEd is "seeking to prioritize." ComED has additional resources from out of state sister agencies deployed across Woodridge and the region, the village said.

According to the village, the utility company asked residents not to approach crews to ask about restoration times, since they may be working on live electrical equipment and are practicing social distancing, adding that ComED recommends customers take steps they believe are necessary to keep themselves and their families safe during this time.

Residents may check the outage map or call 1-800-EDISON-1 for the latest estimated restoration time.

In a Tuesday news release, the Village of Woodridge said offices are now open after a temporary morning closure due to a power outage. According to the news release, the Village of Woodridge Police Department and the Village of Woodridge Public Works have been working since Monday afternoon when a storm with strong winds led to power outages in several Woodridge neighborhoods. According to the news release, the public works department continues to perform street sweeps to clear the parkway of downed branches and tree limbs, and added that a Woodridge police officer is posted near a downed power line for public safety reasons.

The village said Tuesday that they're aware of many power outages throughout Woodridge, and added that updates will continue to be published as information is received.

On Tuesday morning, nearly 7,500 active power outages kept almost 350,000 homes in the dark across the Chicago area.
