Man Gets Car Stolen After Following Stolen Car In Woodridge

The car was stolen after an armed carjacking in Downers Grove.

WOODRIDGE, IL — A man who was tailing car that was stolen out in an armed carjacking in Downers Grove got their own car stolen, according to Woodridge police. The incident took place Friday evening near the intersection of 75th Street and Route 53.

Police say the witness saw a 2017 Kia Sportage get stolen in Downers Grove and followed the suspects into Woodridge. When he reached the stolen car, the victim got out of his own car, a Dodge Charger with license plates Q501335 and left the engine idling.

The victim's Charger was stolen while it was idling and police say they believe the incident is linked to the armed carjacking in Downers Grove.

In a statement, Woodridge Police Chief Brian Cunningham said, "The Woodridge Police Department reminds people to call 911 as soon as possible should a crime like this occur."
