WOODRIDGE, IL — Coronavirus has taken its toll on Illinois, canceling events and postponing sports, graduations and even weddings, but there's one thing it hasn't taken from us: Fall fun.

From pumpkin patches to apple orchards to corn mazes and fall events, there's plenty to keep us busy as the weather turns cool and crisp.

Here's a roundup of the places in and around Woodridge where you can pick a pumpkin, gather up fall apples, wind your way through a corn maze or attend a safe and socially distanced fall event.

  • Pumpkins and produce: Pumpkin patch, fall decorations, mums of every fall color, and a pie house where you can also get the farm's famous fresh apple cider donuts and more.
  • Cost: Admission price includes all animals, rides and activities. Weekdays — $9.95; weekends (Sat. & Sun.) — $14.95; Columbus Day — $14.95; children 23 months and younger are always free; seniors (62 and older) — weekdays — $1 off; weekends (Sat. & Sun.) and Columbus Day — $3 off; all major credit cards accepted. Anyone with a military ID (active or veteran) will be allowed entry into the zoo for free. (Applies to the individual only. ID must be shown during entry.) There is plenty of free parking and no charge to visit the pumpkin patch and open market area. All rides and attractions are free and unlimited with paid zoo admission.

'Spooktober Spectacular' Halloween Fun: Woodridge Public Library — (See details on all virtual events via the link). Enjoy virtual fun for all from the Woodridge Public Library including Monster Mash Dance Party, slime Contest, and Haunted Cooking Class.

Haunted! Local Myths & Legends with the Woodridge Public Library

When: 7 p.m., Oct. 14: Kathi Kresol, paranormal investigator, historian, and founder of Haunted Rockford, will delight and scare with chilling tales of local haunted areas in Woodridge and DuPage County during a virtual program; open to teens and adults searching for a fright and local history. Pre-register through the Woodridge Library at least 30 minutes before the program.
Free and open to the public: a library card is not required.


Drive-in Movie: Ghostbusters

When: Oct. 17 — 6 p.m. (parking lot opens); 7 p.m. (movie starts)
Where: Cypress Cove Parking Lot, 8301 S. Janes Avenue, Woodridge, IL 60517

Cost: $20 per car

More Details: The Cypress Cove parking lot will turn into a drive-in movie theatre for a night for attendees to watch “Ghostbusters” from their car, or bring chairs to sit outside your car within the parking lot space allocated to you. "Pre-registration is required and space is limited so register early! No walkups or sitting in grass allowed. Concessions will not be available but outside food and beverages are permitted (no alcohol allowed). Movie sound will be transmitted through vehicle FM radio. Larger vehicles may be parked toward the back of the parking lot. Sitting on top of vehicles strictly prohibited. Face coverings will be required when leaving parking space area (i.e. bathrooms)."
