Woodridge Police Quash Social Media Rumors Of 'Homicides'
Police say the rumors started on social media are false.
WOODRIDGE, IL — Police in Woodridge say recent rumors that circulated online about "homicides" in the village are untrue. According to police, the rumors, which started as social media posts, are not founded.
In a statement, police said, "We live at a time when people are on heightened alert. Spreading incorrect information is reckless, malicious, and can endanger others. The Woodridge Police Department is committed to providing dedicated professional service and communicating information timely and accurately."
They went on to encourage residents to call the Woodridge Police Department with questions and to continue to share public safety posts that are "based on facts and not rumors or gossip."
