Woodridge Police Reports: Arson, Property Damage, Theft

The Woodridge Police Department reported crimes and arrests through July 1.

A retail theft occurred at approximately 11 p.m. June 24 at the Marathon Gas Station, 2340 75th Street. A man tried to buy 11 packs of Cigarillos and two lighters using a $100 bill. The clerk suspected the bill was fake and refused to take it. The man then grabbed the merchandise and ran out.

A criminal damage to property occurred between 5:30 p.m. June 24 and 9 a.m. June 26 in the 7600 block of Catalpa Avenue. Someone removed a window to enter a home and used a hammer to make holes in the drywall. Appliances, cabinets and interior doors were also damaged.

A theft occurred between 7 a.m. June 24 and 1 p.m. June 26 at Cypress Cove, 8301 Janes Avenue. Someone stole a bicycle that had been chained to a bike rack.

An aggravated arson occurred at about 1:49 p.m. June 26 in the 7300 block of Woodward Avenue. Someone used an accelerant to start a fire in an apartment building.

A criminal damage to vehicle occurred between 10 a.m. June 25 and 2 p.m. June 26 in the 3300 block of Foxboro Drive. Someone scratched across the front and rear driver’s side doors of a parked vehicle.

A criminal damage to vehicle occurred between 6:45 p.m. June 26 and 8:30 a.m. June 27 in the 6300 block of Winston Drive. Someone broke the windshield of a parked vehicle.

A theft of vehicle occurred between 10 a.m. June 26 and 5 p.m. June 28 in the 2400 block of Forest Drive. Someone stole a 2002 Dodge Caravan from the parking lot.

At approximately 9:41 p.m. June 27, Jesenia Ortiz, 18 of the 17400 block of S. Jordan Lane, Lockport, was charged with theft after police say she stole $1060 from Kohl’s, 1001 W. 75th Street.

A criminal damage to vehicle occurred between 5 p.m. June 26 and 5 p.m. June 27 in the 2600 block of Forest Drive. Someone used an object, possibly rocks, to scratch the vehicle and break the rear window.

At approximately 11:48 p.m. June 29, Jazz Davis, 18 of the 7500 block of Orchard Lane in Woodridge was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor after officers on foot patrol in the 2000 block of Apple Lane reportedly saw her drinking alcohol while sitting outside on a bench.

A burglary from motor vehicle occurred between 8 p.m. June 29 and 8:30 a.m. June 30 in the 900 block of Stonebridge Way. Someone made entry into an unlocked vehicle and stole a wallet and an iPad.

A burglary from motor vehicle occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m. June 30 in the 1500 block of 75th Street. Someone broke a window of a parked vehicle and stole a purse that was on the floor in the front seat area.
