Woodridge Police Warn Of iTunes Phone Scam
Police say the caller will ask you to buy iTunes gift cards and then ask for the security codes on the cards.
WOODRIDGE, IL -- With identity theft scams on the rise in recent months, Woodridge police are warning residents to stay vigilant about a new scam that uses iTunes to target customers.
Police say the scammers call residents, sometimes pretending to be from a business or organization. Sometimes they pretend to be someone you may know.
They then tell the resident they owe money, but that the money must be paid in the form of iTunes gift cards. Once the victim purchases the gift cards, the scammer accesses the funds by asking the victim for the codes on the back of the gift cards.
